Michael Dawson Chief Executive Officer Michael has a unique set of experience gained in the not for profit, private and government sectors.
He joined CBB in May 2010 from his role as Chief Executive with Victim Support Service, a state-wide not-for-profit organisation in South Australia. He presided over its growth to become the largest and most recognised organisation in its field in Australia. In this role he was honoured by being awarded ‘Runner Up’ in the 2007 Equity Trustees Not-for-Profit CEO Awards - Long Term Achiever category.
Prior to this he was a Principal Consultant with Coopers & Lybrand Consultants, an international management consultancy. As well as working on business improvement and change management with commercial sector clients, he specialised in working with state and local government and community services on a variety of assignments.
After consulting in most States and Territories in Australia, Michael joined the firm’s consulting team in Hong Kong where he lived, and worked with the Central Government, for nearly two years advising on and overseeing the decentralisation of human resource management to business units.
Prior to these positions Michael was a Human Resources Manager in the private sector and a middle manager in the health (disability) sector in government - after qualifying and commencing his career as a teacher and registered psychologist. He is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society.
Passionate about the not-for-profit sector, Michael has always held a strong interest in community services - sitting as a Director or Public Officer on several voluntary Boards of Governance of Incorporated Associations over many years. Currently Michael serves on a number of boards and committees including SA Council of Social Service (SACOSS), SACOSS Policy Council, and Victim Support Australasia Inc. He is appointed by relevant Ministers to the SA Classification Council, Legal Services Commission of South Australia, and the Volunteer Ministerial Advisory Group.
Michael is looking forward to leading the CBB team and building further on its already excellent reputation.
