07/10/2007 | Workforce DevelopmentA significant challenge for many organisations in the health and community services sector is the recruitment and retention of staff. The SA Health & Community Services Skills Board has been established to focus on workforce development, specifically to:
· Provide advice to government in relation to policy
and skill development.
· Promote good Workforce Development practices to
industry
· Support the development of Careers & Employment
opportunities in the sector
· Support the development and use of Training
Packages & Qualifications
To achieve these outcomes the Skills Board works closely with government, the education sector and industry. Where appropriate the Skills Board also host projects in areas such as disability, childcare and other Community Services & Health Careers
In 2008 the Skills Board will hold it inaugural Human Services at Work Conference on 22 May at the National Wine Centre.
This will also coincide with the Excellence in Workforce Development Awards to celebrate the achievement of the Health & Community Services sector.
