04/08/2005 | Disaster Recovery Plan - Organisational Data

Have you ever wondered what would
happen to your commercial intelligence
and human resources data if you had a
theft, a fire or another tragic event that
took place at your office?

As part of our Risk Management Contingency Plan we, at the CBB, have recently implemented our Disaster Recovery Plan to assure that if any unforeseen disaster occurred at our offices we are set up to eliminate our downtime and safeguard against
losing valuable client and organisational data.

The data which can generally be lost when a disaster occurs that is stored on servers can include financial records, payroll data, general information, e-mail, client files etc.

The Disaster Recovery process that the CBB has undertaken included:

• all data sent to a ‘backup server’ using the Industry
Standard software

• locating our backup server off site

• backing up our data in real time
(ie a file is saved and is instantly updated on the backup server)

As an added security measure we have also set up a disaster recovery site so that if our systems are unavailable for whatever reason we can immediately relocate and be up and running within a 30 minute time span.

None of this was possible without the help from our business partners such as our insurance advisor and IT suppliers.
