Senior Management Team
Michael Dawson CEO/Public Officer Commencement: May 2010 Michael has a unique set of experience gained in the not for profit, private and government sectors. He joined CBB in May 2010 from his role as Chief Executive with Victim Support Service, a state-wide not-for-profit organisation in South Australia. He presided over its growth to become the largest and most recognised organisation in its field in Australia. In this role he was honoured by being awarded 'Runner Up' in the 2007 Equity Trustees Not-for-Profit CEO Awards - Long Term Achiever category. Prior to this he was a Principal Consultant with Coopers & Lybrand Consultants, an international management consultancy. As well as working on business improvement and change management with commercial sector clients, he specialised in working with state and local government and community services on a variety of assignments. After consulting in most States and Territories in Australia, Michael joined the firm's consulting team in Hong Kong where he lived, and worked with the Central Government, for nearly two years advising on and overseeing the decentralisation of human resource management to business units. Prior to these positions Michael was a Human Resources Manager in the private sector and a middle manager in the health (disability) sector in government - after qualifying and commencing his career as a teacher and registered psychologist. He is a Member of the Australian Psychological Society. Passionate about the not-for-profit sector, Michael has always held a strong interest in community services - sitting as a Director or Public Officer on several voluntary Boards of Governance of Incorporated Associations over many years. Currently Michael serves on a number of boards and committees including SA Council of Social Service (SACOSS), SACOSS Policy Council, and Victim Support Australasia Inc. He is appointed by relevant Ministers to the SA Classification Council, Legal Services Commission of South Australia, and the Volunteer Ministerial Advisory Group. Michael is looking forward to leading the CBB team and building further on its already excellent reputation.
Wayne Turner General Manager, CBB Consulting Commencement: October 2008 Wayne has extensive background in management and financial consulting and has provided consulting services to the government sector, commercial enterprises and more specifically the NFP sector over a 20 year period. He has also been a Director in a state wide health service, an Executive for a major education institution, a Senior Manager for an international consulting firm, as well as the Principal of his own consulting practice. Wayne has comprehensive skills and experience in finance, marketing and management which is backed by graduate qualifications in Finance/Accounting and post graduate qualifications in Business Administration. He has been an active member of several Boards and is a long standing Board member/Treasurer of a major not-for-profit organisation. He has been rewarded for his consulting work as a recipient of the Sir Thomas Playford Prize for Innovation (for developing an innovative strategic business plan), and a recipient of the Mentor of the Year award (for his work as a mentor and coach). Wayne has also received extensive training and undertaken significant work across Australia in the development of strategic plans, business plans, risk analysis, financial assessments, diagnostic reviews, business development and improvement activities, to list a few areas of expertise. Michael Colmagro Business Manager Commencement: October 1999 Michael has been with the CBB since 1999 and has held the Manager Financial Services position for the whole duration of this time and is also a member of the Executive team. He is currently responsible for delivering accounting services to our clients including preparation of budgets and financial analysis and providing an advisory service relating to financial matters. Michael is also the Head of CBB Salary Packaging with responsibility for the strategic leadership of the Sales and Operational teams. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Accounting) from the University of SA and has been a member of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants for over 10 years. Michael is keen a sportsman who enjoys playing tennis, water sports and generally being outdoors. Also in his spare time he enjoys socialising and catching up with friends.
James Abraham Manager IT Services Commencement: March 2001 James first started his career with the CBB in 2001. As the IT Manager, James is responsible for the management of CBB's ICT helpdesk and support service and the identification of emerging technologies relevant to CBB and its clients. He also plays a significant role in developing the ICT strategic plan, analysing business processes and managing vendor contracts. Previously, James was employed by the University of South Australia. His roles included tutoring and supervising external students for multiple subjects. He has completed Bachelor of Information Technology Degree (Software Engineering) with Honours at the University of South Australia. During the final years of his studies, James was honoured by reaching the Faculty of Information Technology Deans Merit Lists two years in a row and was subsequently invited by the University of South Australia Chapter to join the Golden Key National Honour Society. While not at work, James enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons and engaging in a variety of sports including badminton, basketball and golf.
National Operations Manager Commencement: October 2011 Jo has extensive experience in the Retail and Call Centre Industry, managing in both Sales and Service environments. During her time in the retail industry within the heath and general insurance sector, Jo was the recipient of an AMP Achievement Award, for excellence in customer service. Jo has spent over 11 years managing inbound, outbound, service and processing within the Call Centre environment. During this time she was recognised for her skills, achieving runner up Team Manager 2002, and being part of the committee that put together the applications that won “Call Centre of the Year 2002” as recognised by the ATA. Previously working for a financial institution, managing a Sales Lending area, Jo has the background to assist her in the Role of Operations Manager, CBB Salary Packaging. Jo’s role at CBB is to focus on delivering a high level of service to our clients, and her motto has always been one of “Can Do”. She is described as a real people’s person who enjoys spending time with family and friends, entertaining at home or spending time on the river skiing and sharing stories and a laugh around the camp.
