CBB Community Development

People talk about community development in different ways. CBB the not4profit people believes it is a process for enhancing the social well-being of individuals and organisations in the community sector, and the people they serve. It includes:

• resourcing community organisations and individuals to meet the needs of their clients
• empowering individuals and communities
• increasing people's skills
• servicing and supporting those in the community sector
• assisting in building community networks and participating in inter-agency meetings
• undertaking needs assessment and identifying emerging needs
• improving quality of life
• defining priorities
• working towards social justice

The Principles underpinning this Vision are:

Capacity building that transform organisations to achieve their purpose and social outcomes.

It supports and strengthens individuals, families and communities to identify needs and develop solutions at a local level. This may involve advocacy, empowerment, education, awareness raising and distribution of resources to individuals and organisations.

Capability enhancement that equips agencies and individuals to perform effectively, efficiently and develop long term sustainability. This may involve performance and organisational structures, processes and management systems that make the best use of skilled resources, and that ensures their full utilisation, retention and continued motivation.
