Policy
Development
CBB
Consulting can assist in the development/review of your
policy framework. The following activities are typical
of this review process:
-
Completing a “desk review” of provided
documentation.
-
Comparing documentation to CBB’s data base of
policy frameworks.
-
Providing a critical report based on the “desk
review”.
CBB
Consulting could provide a methodology and facilitate
a workshop to assist management/executive undertake
a scoping process in regard to policy. The scoping workshop
would primarily focus on where and how management/executive
responsibilities and roles fit, and as a consequence
where their boundaries occur. CBB Consulting would also
expand on the range of process steps that occur in policy
formulation and implementation. Two themes occur within
the workshop.
Theme 1: Policy Process
-
Define policy levels – Board separate to organisation
-
Review policy areas – establishing policy areas
-
Identify policy gaps – assessing policy gaps,
applying risk assessments
-
Initiate policy – design and expectation of
policy
-
Formulate policy – prepare and critically appraise
policy initiative and assess budget impact
-
Approve policy – responsibilities and accountabilities
are recognised
-
Disseminate policy – communicating policy to
the right people
-
Implement policy – manage policy and its application
- Audit
policy – review effectiveness and relevance
Theme
2: Scope and Boundaries
This, the more significant part of the workshop would
discuss and provide a basis for management/ executive
to evaluate their policy processes including a “process/decision
making tool” that assists with policy scoping.
The workshop would have as an objective, to ensure management/executive
are in accord with the entire policy framework; and that
policy scope and how to determine that scope, are understood
